Presented by the Black Cinema Series, a partnership between the Rochester Association of Black Journalists (RABJ) and the Little Theatre.
Braiding historical accounts with modern-day testimonials, this documentary on Black surfing and aquatic culture dismantles the racial barriers of conventional surf culture over the 1,000-year-old tradition from Africa to the Americas, and honors the current movement — inspiring the next generation of Black surfers.
Following the film, Jalen McGill, a journalist and sports director of 105.5 The Beat radio station, will moderate a post-screening discussion with panelists:

The Black Cinema Series film this month is being screened ten days before surfing at the 2024 Summer Olympics is scheduled to take place (which is July 27 to Aug. 5 in Teahupo’o ,Tahiti, the French overseas territory of Polynesia in the southern Pacific.)
And this also happens to occur while most of the athletic competitions for the Summer Olympics will be held in the host city of Paris, France (Friday, July 26 to Sunday, Aug. 11).
