Black Cinema Series: “A Jazzman’s Blues”

June 20 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

$11

Presented by the Black Cinema Series, a partnership between the Rochester Association of Black Journalists (RABJ) and the Little Theatre.

Tyler Perry’s tale of forbidden love and family drama unravels 40 years of secrets and lies against a soundtrack of juke-joint blues in the Deep South.

Following the film, there will be a post-screening panel discussion with saxophonist Jimmie Highsmith, Jr. and vocalist Cinnamon Jones. Both Highsmith and Jones are artists performing during the 21 edition of the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival, which kicks off on the following day (June 21-29).

Besides happening on the eve of the 2024 RIJF, the June screening occurs during Black Music Month.
